In the summertime, I count down the days to harvest the sweet green leaves, fill the sink with cool water and just swoosh my hands around in it, breathing deeply all the while. So, naturally a basil soap was in order. Not only is it delicious to eat, a treat for the olfactory sense, it also has wonderful healing properties. I added just a tad of eucalyptus, further improving on it’s nurturing qualities for respiratory troubles such as asthma.
In Italy, the women wear basil to attract love. In India, the leaves are eaten before rituals as it is believed to be sacred to Krishna. Lastly, it is considered helpful in regulating the menses, so women who are pregnant should avoid essential oil of sweet basil (as well as clary sage and many others! Please do your homework ladies!) Basil is also known to improve mental acuity, and alertness. It is also a natural anti-depressant. All of this, AND it is naturally antiseptic, anti fungal and deoderizing.
This blend is clear, light and peppery with sweet green top notes & a splash of eucalyptus. Clears and sharpens the mind. Uplifts and brightens the spirit. Good for repelling insects and soothing bites. I could go on and on.
I think it may be my new favorite, surpassing the dreamy Relaxation Blend.
